The Brenton Wright Scholarship

As a co-founder of the Social Impact Investment Network SA (SIINSA), Brenton helped set the wheels in motion for impact investment to go to the next level in SA, and as was his special gift, he brought many others with him.

Brenton had an indomitable spirit. He was a lifelong learner, committed to South Australia, and with a distinguished career and leadership in the public service, a major NGO, a multinational corporation and in small and medium business.   Brenton’s outstanding network meant knowing Brenton reduced the number of degrees of separation considerably!  His strong values driven approach and persuasive style opened doors and minds to solve problems and deliver results.   Tragically, Brenton died in 2017.

About the scholarship

SIINSA is proud to announce an annual social impact investment scholarship in Brenton’s memory.   The scholarship will be awarded to an individual to undertake a project, which demonstrates the potential to advance impact investment in South Australia.

The award of $6,000 over a twelve month period can be used for the costs directly related to the project, but excludes the following:

• Salary costs
• Overseas travel
• Rent or lease of facilities or equipment.

Process of assessment

Applications must be on the prescribed form that it is available through the SIINSA website or by calling (08) 8224 0074. Applications close at 5pm on Tuesday December 18. Late submissions will not be assessed. Details for lodgement can be found at the end of the application form.

A panel will be convened by the SIINSA board to consider your application based on the following selection criteria. Proposals are required to address a minimum of two of the following criteria:

• Demonstrate social and economic value of impact investing to South Australia
• Establish metrics to stimulate social investment from non-philanthropic investors
• Identify case examples to demonstrate the potential of social investment in South Australia and stimulate the supply of capital.

The recipient of the scholarship will be required to present their findings at a public SIINSA event.
